Our client is a leading supplier of grapes, citrus and top fruit to the UK’s foodservice industry. They apply a category management model successfully into foodservice on a 12 month supply contract basis. They are an entrepreneurial business who prides themselves on providing outstanding levels of service along with a high quality product.
Due to the continued growth and the desire to expand into new categories they now require a Pineapple Procurement Manager to join the team to look at sourcing exotics. The successful applicant will be part of the Commercial Management team reporting to the Managing Director.
THE OPPORTUNITY...
• You will seek opportunities to improve leverage and achieve competitive advantage for the business by identifying suppliers who can deliver long term competitive advantage to the business and develop strategic relationships with these suppliers.
• To specify products and negotiate costs that delivers the maximum saving without continuously compromising quality or service to your customers.
• To achieve agreed cost reduction, quality improvement or service enhancement targets.
• To identify further products and services that could deliver cost savings if procured centrally.
THE QUALITIES WE WANT TO SEE...
• Specialist in Pineapples.
• Significant experience as a procurement manager for a large/medium business.
• Good awareness and knowledge of the foodservice industry.
• Strong analytical skills with clear focus on end results
• Excellent Communication skills.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Good technical skills.
• Language skills would be an advantage with Spanish or Portuguese being highest priority.
